Petunias are part of the nightshade family of plants and are native to Central America.
Over the years, many hybrids have come from the petunia family. One of the more popular hybrids was the wave petunia, which was a line developed in 1995.
With the hybrid varieties coming out came a wide variety of colors. Today, petunias can be found in almost all basic colors, such as white, black, red, and yellow — as well as multicolored, and more unique color tones.
